Punjab Summer Vacation 2025 Due to Extreme Heat Forecast
As of April 30, 2025 – With intense heatwaves expected in May and June 2025, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has recommended starting school summer vacations earlier than usual to safeguard students from rising temperatures. The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts temperatures between 40°C to 44°C in Punjab and Sindh, with heatwave conditions likely beginning mid-May.
Expected School Vacation Schedule:
- Punjab: All public and private schools are expected to close from May 15 to August 14, 2025. (Traditionally, holidays start from June 1.)
- Sindh: Official dates are yet to be confirmed, but vacations are expected from June 1 to August 15.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa & Balochistan: These provinces are also likely to follow a similar schedule starting in mid-May or early June.
PDMA Guidelines for Schools:
- Adjust school timings before the holidays
- Ensure the availability of clean drinking water
- Ban outdoor activities during peak hours
- Improve ventilation in classrooms
